World Cleanup Day Observed at Amrita Vidyalayam, New Delhi

An Offering of Love and Service Ahead of Amma’s Birthday Celebrations

ॐ अमृतेश्वर्यै नमः

Amrita Vidyalayam, New Delhi, observed World Cleanup Day on Saturday, 20 September 2025, as a heartfelt prelude to Amma’s birthday celebrations on 27 September. The day’s activities reflected Amma’s message of selfless service and environmental stewardship, turning a global initiative into a sacred yajna—a collective offering for the welfare of society and the planet.

The event was graced by the Head of Institution, Bri. Chinmayamrita Chaitanya (Samapika), Vice Principal Ms. Vijayalaxmi Anandan, and other members of the management. The presence of Chief Guest Mr. Dinesh Mudgil, SHO Saket, lent added significance to the occasion.

In her address, the Principal reminded students that, while most people look forward to receiving gifts on their birthdays, Amma becomes the giver—providing food for the hungry, homes for the homeless, free medical care for the poor, scholarships for children, and disaster relief worldwide. She emphasized that cleaning the environment, planting trees, and reducing plastic waste are not just tasks but acts of love and devotion: “Even when you pick up a single piece of litter, do it with the prayer that our Earth becomes purer and healthier.” She further urged every student to plant a sapling at home or in their neighborhood—as a birthday gift to Amma—symbolizing a commitment to protecting Nature.

Students collectively took a pledge to:

Reduce the use of plastic, especially polythene bags.

Use cloth or paper bags instead.

Inspire neighbors and friends to adopt eco-friendly practices for a cleaner, greener Earth.

Following the inaugural ceremony, students of Grades Nursery to V cleaned classrooms, corridors, and the school garden under their teachers’ guidance, while students of Grades X, XI, and XII extended their efforts beyond the campus—cleaning nearby public parks, lanes, and other community spaces. Their enthusiasm and teamwork spread the message of cleanliness and environmental responsibility to the local community.

The event also previewed the service activities planned for Amma’s birthday celebrations: visits to old-age homes with essential items and cultural performances, a Blood Donation Camp, and a Free Eye Checkup on campus—acts that embody Amma’s vision of compassion in action.

The day concluded with the universal prayer, ॐ लोकाः समस्ता: सुखिनो भवन्तु—May all beings in all worlds be happy, reinforcing the spirit of unity and service.

In all, the observance of World Cleanup Day not only strengthened students’ sense of environmental responsibility and community service but also offered them a profound way to honor Amma’s teachings through sincere, selfless action.

I liked how this focused on simple action instead of only big ideas. During a busy study week I used Complete My Math Assignment, and it gave me more time to read community posts like this. Cleanup events always show what people can do together. Small local actions often create lasting impact. It showed me how self care matters. It helped me understand large projects better. Nice post . Your post make me smile.

I like how the post highlights World Cleanup Day and shows how small actions by people can make a big difference for the environment, which feels inspiring and practical. When I was studying this topic, I searched for renters insurance quote Texas and checked Alpa Insurance while thinking about protecting my own space too, since it usually costs around $15 to $25 per month in Texas
